Area Manager – Children’s Residential Care

£60,000 - £70,000 + Bonus

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience as a Registered Manager or at regional-level in children's residential care services, or just at a regional-level in adult care services.
  • A proven track record of achieving at least ‘Good’ ratings in Ofsted or CQC inspections.
  • A Level 5 Diploma in Residential Childcare or an equivalent qualification.
  • A valid UK driving licence.

 

Compass Associates are proud to be exclusively partnering with a well-established organisation that specialises in residential care services for children with complex needs. The business is seeking an Area Manager to oversee a cluster of six children’s homes, working closely with the senior leadership team while leading a team of Registered Managers.

 

THE ROLE

As Area Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of six registered services. The Registered Managers of these services will report directly to you, while you will report to the Operations Director.

 

This role involves:

  • Visiting and supervising services.
  • Conducting quality audits and monitoring progress.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with local authorities.
  • Holding Responsible Individual status.

 

THE CANDIDATE

It is essential that applicants have experience as either: a ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’-rated Registered Manager of children’s services, an Area Manager (or equivalent) if applying from an adult social care background, or ideally an Area Manager (or equivalent) within the children’s social care sector. The ideal candidate will be a confident multi-site operator in the children’s care sector, as the patch is set to grow to include an additional service within the next 12 months.

 

Candidates must also be commercially astute, with a strong understanding of operating a portfolio of profitable services. In the role, you must be comfortable and confident when developing and maintaining relationships with local authorities, and able to manage occupancy levels and agency use.

 

Additionally, candidates should have a proven track record of delivering consistently high standards of care within the sector, with evidence of achieving ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted or CQC ratings. The successful applicant will have extensive sector knowledge and the ability to lead, develop, and nurture a team of Registered Managers, ensuring high-quality care for all service users. INTERVIEW PROCESS

A two-stage interview process:

1. Introductory call via Teams with the Operations Director.

2. Formal face-to-face interview with the Operations Director and other members of the senior leadership team, including a ten minute presentation
