Business Development Manager – Custody and Forensic Healthcare

£50,000 - £60,000 DOE + Uncapped Commission + Competitive Benefits

Compass Associates is proud to partner with a leading provider of custody and forensic healthcare services to the public sector. Due to continued expansion, we are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive strategic growth and build strong partnerships across key healthcare sectors.

 

The Role:

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying and securing new contracts within the NHS England, Trusts, ICBs, and wider government healthcare services. You will lead on tendering processes, develop stakeholder relationships, and contribute to long-term business strategy.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the public sector
  • Develop and maintain relationships with NHS commissioners, ICBs, and government bodies
  • Lead on tendering and bid submissions from initial identification to financial sign-off
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and maximise commercial opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support successful contract implementation
  • Present business proposals and negotiate contracts at an executive level
  • Report on sales pipeline and contribute to business strategy planning

 

About You:

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven professional with a strong track record in public sector business development. You will have experience in securing large-scale NHS and ICB contracts and a deep understanding of healthcare commissioning and funding models.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management within healthcare
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a senior role, preferably within a renown organisation, with a proven track record in organic growth and securing new business.
  • At least 5 years in the UK healthcare market, ideally within primary healthcare or secure custody settings.
  • Strong understanding of multi-disciplinary healthcare integration, ensuring effective deployment while respecting each professional’s scope of practice.
  • In-depth knowledge of patient journeys, frontline clinical service best practices, and clinical governance policies and procedures.
  • Skilled in engaging with senior client stakeholders, demonstrating commercial awareness, strategic thinking, and sales acumen.
  • Extensive experience in the full sales cycle, including market research, value proposition analysis, TOM and pricing model development, bid writing, contract negotiations, and overseeing implementation/onboarding.

 

The Location:

This is a home-based role with UK-wide travel and regular visits to the Crawley HQ for team meetings.
