Compass Associates are delighted to be partnering with a respected elderly care provider in the recruitment of a Clinical Deputy Manager (RGN) for a well-established nursing home based in Longfield, Kent.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Clinical Deputy Manager, Unit Manager or Senior Registered Nurse looking to take the next step into a leadership role. Working closely alongside the Home Manager, you will provide strong clinical leadership while supporting the operational management of the home, ensuring residents consistently receive safe, high-quality and person-centred care.

The home provides specialist nursing, residential and dementia care within a welcoming and supportive environment. This position offers an excellent balance of hands-on clinical practice and protected management time, allowing you to focus on developing the clinical team, maintaining compliance and driving continuous quality improvements across the service.

About the Role

Working alongside the Home Manager, the Clinical Deputy Manager will:

• Support the day-to-day clinical and operational management of the home.
• Lead, supervise and develop the nursing and care teams.
• Act as Nurse in Charge during clinical shifts, ensuring exceptional standards of care.
• Complete 18 hours of protected supernumerary management time each week, focusing on clinical governance, audits, compliance and staff development.
• Ensure the home continues to deliver safe, effective and person-centred care in line with CQC regulations and professional standards.
• Promote a positive culture where residents, relatives and colleagues feel valued and supported.

This position consists of 40 contracted hours per week, with 22 hours worked clinically and 18 hours dedicated to supernumerary management responsibilities, providing an excellent balance between clinical leadership and operational

oversight.

Role Responsibilities

• Provide strong clinical leadership across the nursing team.
• Support the Home Manager with the day-to-day running of the service.
• Ensure care plans remain accurate, person-centred and regularly reviewed.
• Oversee medication management and safe clinical practice.
• Monitor residents' wellbeing and respond proactively to changing clinical needs.
• Complete clinical audits and support quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with CQC regulations and internal governance standards.
• Lead on safeguarding, infection prevention and control, and clinical best practice.
• Mentor, coach and develop Registered Nurses, Senior Carers and Care Assistants.
• Carry out supervisions, competency assessments and performance support.
• Build positive relationships with residents, relatives, GPs and multidisciplinary professionals.
• Deputise for the Home Manager in their absence.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN) with a valid NMC PIN.
• Full right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
• Minimum of five years' experience working within an elderly nursing home environment.
• Previous experience as a Clinical Deputy Manager, Unit Manager or Senior Nurse with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of dementia care and elderly nursing.
• Excellent understanding of CQC regulations, clinical governance and compliance.
• Experience leading and developing nursing teams.
• Confident managing clinical performance, audits and quality standards.
• Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
