Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon – Lower Limb

Location: Plymouth

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in Lower Limb Orthopaedics to join a well-established, multi-disciplinary medical team in Plymouth.

You will be a highly valued member of a professional, friendly, and compassionate clinical team, delivering planned surgical care to NHS, private, and insured patients within a modern, well-equipped hospital environment.

The hospital provides high-quality treatment across a broad range of specialties, with a strong emphasis on patient safety, comfort, and enhanced recovery.

What you’ll be doing

  • Deliver high-quality lower limb orthopaedic surgery and outpatient clinics.

  • Provide safe, effective, and patient-centred care within a planned surgical setting.

  • Work collaboratively as part of an on-site orthopaedic surgical service.

  • Contribute to a day surgery unit and outpatient department offering minor orthopaedic procedures.

  • Participate in a flexible working rota, primarily Monday to Saturday.

  • Maintain professional standards through clinical governance, audit, and ongoing CPD.

A typical full-time working week comprises 40 hours, with flexible working patterns actively supported.

What we’re looking for

  • UK-registerable medical degree.

  • GMC Specialist Registration in Orthopaedics (or immediate eligibility).

  • FRCS (Tr & Orth) or European equivalent.

  • Significant experience in Lower Limb Orthopaedic surgery.

  • Strong academic and clinical track record.

  • Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and multidisciplinary working.

  • Excellent communication and professional collaboration skills.
