Deputy Manager – Learning Disabilities (Residential Service)

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (Supernumerary Role)
On-Call: Shared with Service Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate Deputy Manager to join a residential service supporting seven adults with learning disabilities, autism spectrum conditions, and mental health needs. Located close to Dewsbury town centre, this CQC-rated Good service offers a supportive environment for both residents and staff.

 

About the Role

As Deputy Manager, you’ll work closely with the Service Manager to ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care in accordance with CQC regulations. This is a supernumerary role, offering the opportunity to focus on leadership, staff development, compliance, and continuous improvement.

 

You'll be responsible for helping lead and support a team of 24 staff, including bank workers, playing an active role in service development and on-call duties as part of the management team.

 

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Service Manager in the day-to-day running of the service.
  • Ensure high standards of care planning, medication administration, and safeguarding.
  • Motivate and manage staff through supervision, mentoring, and training.
  • Participate in the on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support.
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging environment for both residents and staff.
  • Promote community involvement and continuous service improvement.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in residential or supported living services (background in either is welcome).
  • Committed to delivering outstanding care with a person-centred approach.
  • Confident in managing staff and handling operational responsibilities.
  • Knowledgeable in regulatory standards and CQC frameworks.
  • NVQ Level 3 qualified (with a willingness to work towards Level 5 if not already held).
  • Organised, proactive, and an excellent communicator.
