Deputy Manager | Specialist Dementia & Residential Care Home

Salary: £40,000 per annum

Location: Alton, Hampshire

Qualification: Level 5 in Health & Social Care (Desirable)

Hours: 40 hours per week
 

 

Compass Associates are proud to be partnering with a well-established, family-run care provider in the recruitment of a Deputy Manager for their specialist dementia home.

This medium sized care home is a fully occupied residential dementia service. The home currently has a Good CQC rating and an excellent local reputation. With a strong, stable staff team and no agency usage, this home offers a supportive and values-driven environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced dementia leader who is confident in compliance, quality and hands-on leadership.

 

The Role

Reporting directly to the Home Manager, the Deputy Manager will play a key role in the day-to-day leadership and smooth running of the service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Home Manager with the operational leadership of a medium sized specialist dementia home
  • Providing strong, visible leadership to care staff and team leaders
  • Working hands-on within the service to role model high-quality residential and dementia care
  • Overseeing care planning and medication systems
  • Supporting audits and quality assurance processes
  • Ensuring compliance with CQC standards and preparing for upcoming inspections
  • Promoting a positive, person-centred culture in line with the provider’s family values
  • Supporting staff development, supervision and performance management

 

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience within a dementia residential care home setting (essential)
  • Experience at Deputy Manager level of at least two years
  • However, the provider may consider a strong Care Manager or Head of Care if they hold a minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a senior role within a care home environment
  • Strong working knowledge of CQC regulations and inspection processes
  • Experience with care planning and medication systems (electronic systems desirable)
  • A Level 5 qualification in Health & Social Care (desirable but not essential)
  • A hands-on leadership style and a passion for high-quality dementia care

 

Candidates from homecare backgrounds will not be considered. Step-up candidates may be considered where experience and readiness can be clearly demonstrated.

 

Location & Commutability

This service is located near the Alton area and is easily commutable from Selborne, Basingstoke, New Alresford, Bordon, Long Sutton, Preston Candover, East Stratton, Kings Worthy and Farnham.
