Employee Relations Manager – Fixed Term Contract

Overview
Compass Associates are proud to be working with a respected national charity that provides rehabilitation and care services to individuals recovering from brain injuries. We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager to lead a high-performing team on a 15-month fixed term contract. This position offers the opportunity to influence organisational culture, drive change, and shape the future of employee relations.

 

The Candidate
The Employee Relations Manager will lead a small team of ER specialists, ensuring consistent, high-quality case management support across the organisation. The role focuses on early intervention, proactive resolution, and empowering managers to handle ER matters confidently. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor, providing guidance on complex cases, employment legislation, and strategic change projects.

You will manage and oversee ER policies, develop best-practice frameworks, and ensure compliance with evolving employment law, including the rollout of the Employment Rights Bill. The postholder will also support organisational change programmes such as restructures, redundancies, and TUPE transfers, while fostering a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.

 

Essential Criteria

  • Degree or equivalent qualification (CIPD Level 7 or working towards)

  • Proven experience leading an ER team and managing complex casework

  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice

  • Experience in policy development and change management

  • Track record in managing high-risk ER cases and tribunal preparation

  • Experience line managing staff, with a focus on performance and development

  • Excellent communication and coaching skills with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach

Salary and Benefits
The salary is up to £47,000 per annum, dependent on experience. Benefits include:
