Overview

 

An independent mental health service set within a tranquil, therapeutic environment is seeking a dedicated Family Therapist to join its Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team. The service provides inpatient, day care, and outpatient treatment for young people experiencing a range of emotional and psychological challenges.

 

Working alongside a compassionate and highly skilled multi-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and therapists, you will play a pivotal role in supporting children, adolescents, and their families throughout their recovery journey.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Family Therapist who is passionate about improving communication, strengthening family relationships, and fostering resilience in young people within a structured, supportive clinical setting.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Deliver family therapy sessions to children, adolescents, and their families, focusing on improving relationships, communication, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary CAMHS team to assess, plan, and implement personalised care plans.
  • Conduct assessments to understand family dynamics and identify factors influencing a young person’s mental health.
  • Provide guidance and psychoeducation to families, promoting effective coping strategies and resilience.
  • Contribute to care reviews and multidisciplinary meetings, ensuring therapy remains integrated within the broader treatment plan.
  • Maintain detailed clinical records and uphold high standards of professional practice in line with safeguarding and ethical frameworks.

 

 

Candidate Requirements

 

  • Qualified Family Therapist with registration (e.g. UKCP, AFT, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience working with children, adolescents, and families in clinical or community mental health settings.
  • Strong understanding of family systems theory and evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate complex family dynamics.
  • Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Compassion, emotional resilience, and a genuine commitment to supporting young people’s wellbeing.
