General Manager | Good CQC | Residential Dementia Care

Location: Devon

Salary: £52,500 per annum + benefits

Hours: Full-time, permanent – 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, with flexibility as required)

 

Remit

Compass Associates are working with a highly regarded care organisation to recruit an experienced General Manager for one of their flagship residential dementia care homes. The service has an excellent local reputation and is currently rated Good overall by the CQC, with Outstanding in Care.

 

This is a well-established home with a stable team and strong foundations already in place. The incoming manager will be given time, support and autonomy to transition into the role and maintain the high standards already achieved. The home provides residential dementia care for 46 residents and benefits from strong central and regional support, including a Regional Manager, HR, Property, and Operations teams.

 

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced care professional with a proven track record of managing care services within residential or dementia care environments. This role is best suited to an established manager who has held responsibility for a service over several years, rather than someone seeking a first-step management opportunity.

 

You will be a confident, hands-on leader who is comfortable overseeing all aspects of service delivery, including staffing, rotas, audits, compliance and overall operational performance. While the role does not require nursing registration, candidates with a clinical background will be viewed favourably.

Maintaining the home’s current CQC standards, particularly its Outstanding rating in Care, will be a

key priority.

 

Requirements – Essential

  • Proven experience as a General Manager / Home Manager within residential or dementia care

  • Strong working knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding and governance

  • Experience managing established care services with full operational responsibility

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or working towards / equivalent experience)

Interview Process

The recruitment process will consist of two stages:

  • Stage One: Informal introductory conversation (Teams)

  • Stage Two: Formal, face-to-face interview 

Location

The home is based in Devon and is easily commutable from Saltash, Plymouth, Ivybridge, Tavistock, Torpoint, Plympton, Plymstock, and surrounding areas.
