Home Manager | Large Elderly Nursing & Residential Care Home
North West London
Salary: Up to £95,000 per annum (DOE) + Benefits
Are you an experienced Home Manager who still notices the small things?
Do you want a large home with a proper team around you, rather than doing everything yourself?
Would you rather build occupancy and quality from a solid base than walk into a crisis?
Then this could be the position for you!
We are working with an established care provider in London and the South East to appoint a Home Manager for one of their larger nursing and residential homes. The service is registered for around 86 residents, arranged over three floors, and already has a full senior structure sitting underneath the Home Manager.
This is not a first Home Manager role, and it is not a turnaround in the usual sense. The home has had more change than anyone would have wanted. The team is loyal, long-serving and wants to do a good job. Occupancy is the obvious gap. Quality and presence come first; the commercial piece follows.
The provider is known for looking after its people and its homes. There is no agency use across the group. Food is cooked fresh. Support office is close enough to be useful without sitting on top of the manager. Internal promotion is common. They would rather wait for the right person than fill the seat.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full operational responsibility for a large nursing and residential home.
- Be visible with residents, relatives and a long-serving team before changing anything.
- Hold quality and day-to-day standards tightly — environment, care and the detail that families notice.
- Work with an in-house commercial lead to rebuild community presence and grow occupancy.
- Lead, coach and develop the senior team, including a non-clinical deputy.
- Keep the home inspection-ready and take it forward on a genuine quality journey.
- Manage the budget properly and protect a predominantly private-pay fee base.
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven Home Manager experience in elderly nursing or residential care. This home is too large, and has too much history, for a first step up.
- Nurse-qualified preferred, given the deputy is not clinical.
- Used to good fees and a decent environment, without needing a luxury brand behind you.
- An eye for detail and a quality-first way of working.
- Comfortable inheriting a long-serving team rather than building one from scratch.
- Commercially able, without making money the first sentence.
- Someone who takes people with them, rather than arriving with a reset plan.
The Home
- Large nursing and residential service, around 86 beds over three floors.
- Well-resourced senior team around the Home Manager, including deputy, hotel services, maintenance, office management and a dedicated commercial lead.
- No agency.
- Predominantly private-pay, with some block beds.
- Occupancy is the main opportunity. The team and the fabric of the home are already there.
- A provider that wants Good as a minimum and Outstanding as the direction of travel.
Location
This role is commutable from Brent, Wembley, Harrow, Hampstead, Willesden, Camden, Westminster, Paddington, Acton, Hendon, Finchley, Tottenham or Haringey
