Head of Quality (Home Care)

Location: Durham (Preferred) – Regional Travel Required
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent

 

We are seeking an experienced Head of Quality / Regional Quality Lead to oversee quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and governance across multiple home care services. This is a senior management position responsible for driving quality standards, ensuring CQC compliance, implementing audit frameworks, and supporting Registered Managers across a multi-site region.

 

The role covers approximately 13 registered domiciliary care services and extra care schemes across the North East and additional services further south.

 

If you are an experienced Quality Manager, Compliance Manager, Regional Quality Lead, or multi-site Registered Manager with strong CQC knowledge, this role offers strategic influence and regional impact.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead quality assurance and regulatory compliance across multiple home care branches

  • Ensure full compliance with CQC Fundamental Standards

  • Maintain continuous CQC inspection readiness

  • Design, implement and manage structured audit frameworks

  • Conduct audits, dip tests and compliance reviews

  • Develop and drive action plans to completion

  • Oversee incident and complaint investigations, including root cause analysis

  • Monitor risk registers and governance frameworks

  • Analyse performance data (including KPI trends) to identify improvement areas

  • Support and coach Registered Managers and operational leaders

  • Embed new quality systems and compliance processes where required

You will not directly line manage Registered Managers but will influence, guide and support them to ensure services are safe, compliant and inspection-ready.

 

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in quality and compliance within home care or domiciliary care

  • Strong working knowledge of CQC regulations and inspection processes

  • Multi-site or regional quality management experience

  • Experience designing and implementing audit frameworks

  • Ability to develop, implement and track action plans

  • Strong leadership and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to influence operational teams without direct line authority

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly

Desirable

  • ISO audit experience or lead auditor training

  • Change management experience

  • Experience using digital care systems or audit platforms

  • Level 5 Leadership & Management in Health & Social Care

About the Role

 

This is a newly created senior leadership role designed to strengthen governance and standardise quality systems across the region.

 

You will work closely with senior operational leaders and quality colleagues to raise standards, implement consistent auditing processes, and support services in achieving and maintaining positive CQC outcomes.

 

This position requires visibility across branches and significant regional travel. Durham is the preferred base; however, flexibility may be considered for the right candidate.
