British Sign Language Proficient – Health Care Leader

Do you have proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) and a strong background in health and social care?

If so, we have an exceptional opportunity for you to lead a specialised mental health inpatient and step-down service in the Midlands on a fixed-term basis.

 

About the Role:
This pivotal role focuses on transformation, change management, and embedding new BSL tools to support inclusive communication and cultural alignment between deaf and non-deaf team members. As the Interim Service Manager, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care, empowering your team, and ensuring a person-centred approach for all service users.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Change Management: Drive the implementation of innovative BSL tools to enhance communication and foster inclusivity.
  • Service Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with CQC standards and organisational policies.
  • Team Development: Inspire and develop a diverse team, bridging the gap between deaf and non-deaf staff, and promoting a culture of understanding and collaboration.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor and improve care quality through effective auditing, training, and performance management.

 

Location:
This Midlands-based service is accessible from locations such as Birmingham, Coventry, Leicester, and Nottingham, Northampton offering a supportive and inclusive working environment.

 

Criteria:

  • Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL). This is non-negotiable.
  • Proven leadership experience within health and social care, ideally in mental health, step-down, or specialist social care settings.
  • Demonstrable experience in change management and embedding new practices or tools.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards, including CQC requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead inclusively.
