We are currently in search for a forward-thinking Lead Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Nurse to join a leading private hospital located in Reading. The Role
As the Lead IPC Nurse, you will be the go-to expert on infection prevention across the hospital. You’ll lead on surveillance, audits, compliance, staff education, and policy development to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
You’ll work closely with the Heads of Departments, Consultants and Clinical Governance Committee
to shape and maintain robust IPC standards in line with national and international best practices. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of infection control strategies and risk assessments
- Ensure full compliance with national IPC guidelines (e.g., UKHSA, NICE, CQC)
- Develop and deliver staff training and education programmes
- Conduct infection surveillance, audits, and root cause analysis of outbreaks
- Advise on infection risks across all clinical and non-clinical departments
- Collaborate in emergency planning and outbreak response
- Champion a culture of safety, cleanliness, and continuous improvement
Our client is able to offer this role on a full-time or part-time basis dependent on your preference, offering between 22.5-37.5 hours per week. This will be worked days only, with shifts falling between Monday to Friday. We are also able to offer hybrid working for the right candidate!
Requirements
- RGN with NMC Registration
- Right to work in the UK
- Specialist qualification Infection Prevention & Control (or equivalent)
- Up-to-date knowledge of national IPC regulations, evidence-based practice, and antimicrobial stewardship
- Excellent communication, education, and interpersonal skills
- Proactive, innovative, and confident in driving change
