Multi-Site Quality, Governance & Compliance Manager | Elderly Care
Full-time | Permanent
Greater London / Manchester
Salary - £50,000 – £60,000 per annum
Are you an experienced Quality, Compliance or Governance professional within elderly care looking for an opportunity where you can genuinely shape how quality is delivered across a growing organisation?
Do you enjoy working alongside operational teams, challenging appropriately and creating consistent standards rather than simply completing audits?
Are you looking for a role where you will have the autonomy to establish what good looks like across a portfolio, while retaining direct exposure to senior leadership and the Board?
Then this could be the role for you?
We are supporting an established, family-owned elderly care provider in the appointment of a Quality, Governance & Compliance Manager to oversee quality and regulatory standards across a portfolio of five residential and nursing care homes.
This is a senior, group-wide role covering services across Greater London and Greater Manchester, providing an opportunity for an experienced quality professional to take ownership of the governance agenda and establish a consistent framework across the organisation.
The Opportunity
The organisation currently operates five elderly residential and nursing care services, with further acquisition activity under consideration as part of a measured, quality-led growth strategy.
The successful candidate will report directly into the Operations Director and take ownership of quality, compliance and governance across the group.
This is not a role designed simply to identify problems.
You will work closely with Home Managers to understand performance, challenge where appropriate, create sustainable improvement plans and ensure learning from incidents, complaints, safeguarding matters and inspections is embedded consistently across every service.
You will be expected to bring your own judgement, credibility and understanding of what good care looks like, rather than waiting to be directed.
Key Responsibilities
You will take responsibility for:
- Leading quality, governance and compliance across the group's five elderly care services.
- Acting as a key point of contact in relation to CQC, including inspections, regulatory relationships and registration activity.
- Developing and embedding a consistent governance framework across the portfolio.
- Supporting Home Managers to improve quality standards and maintain regulatory compliance.
- Completing structured internal quality and compliance reviews across services.
- Agreeing, monitoring and challenging service-level improvement plans.
- Maintaining oversight of safeguarding, complaints and whistleblowing investigations.
- Providing governance oversight across areas including medication management, falls, infection prevention and wider resident safety.
- Maintaining a group-level risk and quality register.
- Producing clear and structured quality reporting for senior leadership and Board-level review.
- Identifying themes and trends across the portfolio and ensuring lessons learned are shared between services.
- Keeping abreast of changes in CQC regulation, Fundamental Standards, safeguarding requirements and sector best practice.
- Supporting the wider senior leadership team as the organisation continues to grow.
You will also have management responsibility for existing compliance support within the organisation.
The Candidate
This opportunity would suit someone who is already established within quality, compliance, governance or multi-site care management and is comfortable operating with a high level of autonomy.
You may currently be working as a:
Quality Manager | Compliance Manager | Governance Manager | Regional Quality Manager | Quality Business Partner | Regional Support Manager | Senior Registered Manager
Previous Registered/Home Management experience would be particularly valuable, although this is not essential.
You will ideally demonstrate:
- Strong experience within elderly residential and/or nursing care.
- Previous responsibility for quality, compliance or governance across multiple services.
- Detailed understanding of CQC regulatory standards and safeguarding legislation.
- Experience conducting audits, quality reviews and service improvement planning.
- The ability to interpret performance information and identify emerging quality risks.
- Experience producing reports for senior leadership or Board-level audiences.
- Confidence challenging experienced Home Managers constructively.
- Strong written communication and investigation skills.
- A structured and pragmatic approach to quality improvement.
- The confidence to make decisions independently and provide clear professional judgement.
A clinical qualification is not essential, and the organisation is equally interested in candidates who have developed their expertise through operations, home management, quality or regulatory positions.
The Person
Cultural fit will be particularly important.
The organisation is looking for someone who is:
- Confident and credible
- Direct without being authoritarian
- Comfortable challenging poor practice
- Pragmatic and solutions-focused
- Highly organised and structured
- Able to build relationships with operational teams
- Comfortable working independently
- Clear about what good governance looks like
- Motivated by improving care rather than simply measuring compliance
This is an environment where the successful individual will be trusted to own the quality agenda.
Location & Travel
The portfolio is split across two geographical clusters:
- Greater London – Romford and Hayes/Uxbridge
- Greater Manchester / Stockport – three services
The successful candidate can be based around either cluster, although a London/South-leaning location may be particularly suitable given the requirement for regular visibility across the southern services and attendance at head office.
Travel to Manchester would typically be expected around once per month, with additional visits where service requirements dictate.
Travel and accommodation are covered, with mileage paid at the organisation's standard rate.
The organisation takes a sensible approach to travel, with overnight accommodation available where required rather than expecting excessive working days.
Package
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 depending on experience
Alongside the salary, the successful candidate will benefit from:
- Travel and accommodation expenses
- Mileage allowance
- Full-time, Monday - Friday working pattern
- Professional development opportunities
- Direct exposure to senior leadership
- Genuine autonomy within a newly strengthened quality structure
- The opportunity to shape governance across a growing elderly care provider
- Scope for the position to develop further as the organisation expands
Why This Opportunity?
This is an opportunity to join a provider that is not looking for someone simply to maintain an existing process.
The organisation wants an experienced quality professional capable of setting the standard, strengthening consistency across its homes and creating a governance framework that can support future growth.
For somebody who enjoys combining quality assurance, operational engagement, governance and service improvement, while retaining genuine autonomy and influence, this offers a particularly broad remit.
