Job Title: Nursing Lead - Specialist Education

Hours: 37.5 weekly hours (core hours 9am to 3pm – but with flexibility)

Location: Cheshire

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum (Band 7-8, Agenda for Change)

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Nursing and Mental Health Lead to join our dynamic, passionate team in a vital leadership role. This position is integral to ensuring that the clinical care we provide consistently meets and exceeds the highest standards in a fast-paced and evolving healthcare environment.

As the Nursing and Mental Health Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the clinical team, providing leadership, support, and guidance in their professional development. While this role does not involve direct hands-on care, your expertise and clinical supervision will play a crucial role in maintaining exceptional care standards across the board.

You will manage a multidisciplinary team that includes nurses, nursing assistants, and clinical trainers. A key aspect of the role will involve mentoring and supporting the clinical team to enhance their skills and ensure adherence to clinical best practices. Additionally, you will be involved in the creation and implementation of key policies, safeguarding procedures, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

In close collaboration with senior management, you will drive continuous improvements to clinical practices and ensure that the organisation maintains its outstanding Care Quality Commission (CQC) rating. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on both the strategic and day-to-day operations of the organisation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of healthcare professionals, ensuring the highest clinical standards are maintained and that staff are supported in their professional development. Provide mentorship and guidance in complex care procedures and nursing practices.
  • Support the training and development of nurses, nursing assistants, and clinical trainers. Facilitate learning opportunities and encourage ongoing professional growth to ensure a skilled and confident workforce.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical policies, safeguarding measures, and quality standards to ensure the safety and well-being of the children and young adults in our care.
  • Work closely with senior leaders to ensure continuous improvement across clinical services, contributing to strategic decisions that enhance service delivery.
  • Play a key role in ensuring the organisation’s practices align with CQC standards. Ensure that all clinical care provided meets regulatory guidelines and maintains the organisation’s reputation for exceptional care.
  • Ensure a robust clinical governance framework is in place to monitor and improve service delivery, with a focus on both short-term care needs and long-term developmental goals for the individuals we support.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Extensive Experience in Critical Care or Complex Care:
  • Tracheostomies
  • Catheter management
  • Feeding tubes and suctioning
  • Medication administration
  • Diabetes management and care
  • Proven Leadership Experience
  • Previous experience working in a role where you were directly involved with the Care Quality Commission
  • Experience with Children and Young Adults with Disabilities
  • Experience in delivering high-quality care and support to this demographic is essential to the role.
  • Registered Nurse (RN): You must hold a valid and current Registered Nurse qualification.
  • While not mandatory, having a Learning Development Nurse registration would be highly regarded
  • Having prior experience as a Registered Manager in a healthcare setting would be an advantage

Process:

  • Preliminary call with the hiring manager to discuss role suitability and experience.
  • In-person interview, including a site tour and observation of students in attendance.
  • Presentation, personality questionnaire (to be completed beforehand), and a 1-hour interview.
