Operations Manager – Children’s Residential

Location: Cumbria

Salary: £68,120 + Bonuses

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience as a regional-level operator in children’s residential care services.
  • A proven track record of achieving at least ‘Good’ ratings in Ofsted inspections.
  • A Level 5 Diploma in Residential Childcare or an equivalent qualification.
  • A valid UK driving licence.

 

Compass Associates are proud to be partnering with a well-established organisation that specialises in residential care services for children who have experienced trauma and are in crisis. The business is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee a cluster of children’s homes, working closely with the senior leadership team while leading a team of Registered Managers.

 

THE ROLE

As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of two registrations across multiple locations. The Registered Managers of these services will report directly to you, while you will report to the Regional Director.

 

This role involves:

  • Visiting and supervising services.
  • Conducting quality audits and monitoring progress.
  • Building strong relationships with local authorities.
  • Holding Responsible Individual status.

 

THE CANDIDATE

It is essential that applicants have experience as an Operations Manager (or equivalent) within the children’s social care sector. The ideal candidate will be a confident multi-site operator, as the organisation is currently rolling out an innovative multi-building children’s home model, offering managers the opportunity to lead in a pioneering new way.

 

Candidates must also be commercially astute, with a strong understanding of operating a portfolio of profitable services, including:

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with local authorities.
  • Managing occupancy levels and agency use.

 

Additionally, candidates should have a proven track record of delivering consistently high standards of care within the sector, with evidence of achieving ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted ratings. The successful applicant will have extensive sector knowledge and the ability to lead, develop, and nurture a team of Registered Managers, ensuring high-quality care for all service users. Our client is looking for a motivated leader who is eager to contribute to the company’s long-term success.

 

INTERVIEW PROCESS

A two-stage interview process:

1. Introductory call via Teams with the Regional Director.

2. Formal face-to-face interview with the Regional Director and other members of the senior leadership team
