Registered Manager – Domiciliary Care

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Salary: £40,000 – £43,000 per annum + Salary Progression Linked to Service Growth
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent

 

Compass Associates are proud to be working in partnership with an established domiciliary care provider to recruit a Registered Manager for their Wakefield service.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a provider during a period of sustained growth, overseeing established services across Wakefield, Barnsley and Doncaster. The role has been created to introduce dedicated regulatory leadership and operational oversight as the organisation continues to expand its presence across West and South Yorkshire.

 

The Opportunity

 

The Registered Manager will oversee a domiciliary care service currently delivering approximately:

  • 1,200 care hours per week across Wakefield and Barnsley
  • Additional service provision within Doncaster
  • Approximately 60 care staff across the region
  • A mix of local authority-funded and private care services

The service operates from a centralised head office in Wakefield, supporting service users across all geographical areas.

 

The organisation has ambitious growth plans, with salary progression linked directly to the achievement of key operational milestones as the service expands towards 2,000 and 3,000 weekly care hours.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply for and hold CQC Registered Manager status
  • Provide operational leadership across Wakefield, Barnsley and Doncaster services
  • Ensure continued compliance with CQC regulations and governance standards
  • Maintain service quality, safety, and performance as the service grows
  • Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, commissioners, and healthcare professionals
  • Support growth through framework contracts and private client development
  • Oversee recruitment activity and workforce planning alongside the internal recruitment team
  • Monitor staffing levels to ensure operational capacity aligns with business growth
  • Support onboarding, retention, and development of care staff
  • Work closely with the Area Manager and wider leadership team to deliver strategic objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement across service delivery, compliance, and operational performance

Team Structure

 

The Registered Manager will oversee an established operational structure including:

  • 2 Care Managers
  • Care Coordinator (currently being recruited)
  • Business Administrator
  • Approximately 60 care staff

As the service grows, additional Care Coordinators and operational support staff will be introduced to ensure sustainable expansion.

 

Candidate Requirements

The client is seeking a commercially aware and operationally focused Registered Manager who can balance growth ambitions with quality care delivery.

 

Essential:

  • Previous experience as a CQC Registered Manager within domiciliary care
  • Strong understanding of CQC regulations, safeguarding, governance, and quality assurance
  • Experience managing service growth and operational performance
  • Ability to build strong relationships with commissioners and external stakeholders
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Experience overseeing recruitment and workforce planning
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Adult Care (or working towards)

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience managing multi-site domiciliary care services
  • Exposure to private care service development
  • Commercial awareness and business development experience
  • Experience working with framework contracts and local authority commissioning
  • Understanding of workforce planning within growing care services

Growth is driven through framework contracts, package referrals, and continued development of local relationships across the region.

 

Package & Benefits

  • £40,000 – £43,000 per annum
