Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Clinical Psychologist to join a specialist service dedicated to supporting adults with acquired brain injuries. The service provides expert neurorehabilitation within a multi/interdisciplinary framework, helping individuals regain lost skills, achieve their personal goals, and rebuild independence.
As Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering neurobehavioural rehabilitation, offering specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessments, interventions, and leadership within the clinical team. This is a rewarding position for those passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of people with complex needs.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver highly specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessments using a range of tools and approaches.
- Undertake pre-admission assessments, formulating collaborative rehabilitation plans and SMART goals.
- Lead and contribute to the development of neurobehavioural formulations within the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide tailored psychological interventions (individual, family, and group) and evaluate outcomes.
- Offer specialist psychological input to risk assessments and management plans.
- Consult with and provide guidance to colleagues, families, and carers on psychological aspects of care.
- Maintain responsibility for a caseload, exercising autonomous professional judgement.
- Contribute to research and service development in line with evidence-based best practice.
- Participate in the clinical on-call rota to support service delivery.
Candidate Requirements:
- Degree in Psychology (BPS recognised for GBR) or equivalent.
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (BPS accredited) or equivalent qualification enabling HCPC registration.
- HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
- Strong interest in clinical neuropsychology and rehabilitation.
- Knowledge of acquired brain injury pathology, neuroanatomy, recovery processes, and rehabilitation models (including TBI, strokes, hypoxic injuries, encephalopathy, etc.).
- At least 2 years’ post-qualification experience working as a Clinical Psychologist in a relevant setting.
- Demonstrable experience producing clinical reports and supporting interdisciplinary team processes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage service users, families, and professionals.
