Service Manager – Supported Living – Learning Disabilities

Location: Chelmsford, Essex
Salary: £40,000 per annum + 10% Annual Bonus

About the Role

Compass Associates are proud to be working exclusively with a leading UK-based adult social care provider, known for delivering high-quality, person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs.

 

They are now looking for an experienced Service Manager to oversee a supported living service in Chelmsford. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a growing, well-established team within a vibrant, community-focused environment.

 

The service comprises 8 self-contained flats designed to promote independence, with a current team of 30 staff and 4 of the flats already occupied. The outgoing Registered Manager has been promoted internally, and a comprehensive handover will be provided to ensure your success in this exciting role.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the supported living service
  • Ensure high standards of care are delivered in line with regulatory and organisational frameworks
  • Support and develop a team of care professionals, fostering a positive working culture
  • Promote independence and person-centred care for each individual we support
  • Oversee compliance, audits, safeguarding, and quality assurance
  • Manage the service budget and resources efficiently
  • Maintain effective communication with families, professionals, and external stakeholders

 

Essential Criteria

  • Experience managing supported living or residential services
  • Strong knowledge of learning disabilities, autism, or complex behaviours
  • Level 3 in Health & Social Care (support provided to achieve Level 4 or 5)
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rota and work flexibly as needed
