Compass Associates are proud to be working with a leading hospital group, who are currently in search for a dedicated Scrub Nurse / Theatre Practitioner to join their team in Southampton.
This well-established hospital offers a broad range of specialities including Cardiac, Urology, Orthopaedics, Spinal, Cosmetics, ENT, Paediatrics and General Surgery, serving both private and NHS-funded patients. The Role
We are seeking motivated and qualified Scrub Practitioner to join their growing team. This role is open to both junior and experienced professionals who are committed to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced theatre environment. As our client offers a range of surgical specialities, we are welcoming applications from all theatre backgrounds.
You will have a number of responsibilities including:
- Prepare and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures, ensuring strict adherence to infection prevention and control standards
- Scrub for a variety of surgical procedures, anticipating the needs of the surgeon and surgical team
- Ensure all surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables are available, checked, and functioning prior to procedures
- Monitor and maintain patient safety at all times within the perioperative environment
- Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team, including anaesthetists, ODPs, and circulating staff
- Support the smooth and efficient running of theatre lists, ensuring minimal delays and effective turnaround times
- Maintain accurate documentation in line with clinical governance
- Actively contribute to a positive and professional team environment
- Participate in on-call rotas (one weekday per week, one weekend per month), including evenings and weekend when required
This is a full-time position consisting of 37.5 hours per week. Our client is able to offer long days if you prefer, but would ask for applicants to have a level of flexibility to meet the needs of the business.
Requirements
- Registered practitioner (e.g., NMC/HCPC registered) with the ability to safely and effectively perform scrub duties
- Demonstrated competence in theatre settings, with the ability to support a range of surgical procedures
- Willingness and ability to participate in on-call rotas and weekend working (when applicable)
- Strong teamwork, communication, and organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing clinical demands
- Understanding of theatre systems, procedures, and surgical workflows
- Proactive and adaptable mindset

Salary & Benefits
In return, there is a generous salary on offer of up to £42,000, which could be negotiated dependent on experience. They have an amazing benefits package including:
