Transitions Associate Director – Social Worker

Autism & Adult Social Care

National Role | £60,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus

Compass Associates are proud to be partnering exclusively with one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist social care services in the search for a Transitions Associate Director – Social Worker. This is a newly created national role focused on adult autism services, offering a fantastic opportunity to shape and support life-changing transitions across the UK.

The Role:

We’re seeking a hands-on and passionate leader to join a well-established national team supporting adults with autism across England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. You will act as a national expert in transitions and assessments—supporting individuals through their care journeys and working closely with local teams to maintain quality, consistency, and compassion.

  • This is not an operational or KPI-heavy position. Instead, your impact will be felt through:
  • Coaching and guiding staff
  • Leading person-centred assessments and transitions
  • Preventing placement breakdowns
  • Seeing the person behind the diagnosis
  • You’ll be managing your own diary, expected to respond quickly to crisis situations, and supported by a generous car allowance and fully reimbursed travel expenses.

About You:

  • Ideally you will likely have a social work qualification
  • Ideally with specialist training or a Master’s in autism
  • PBS (Positive Behaviour Support) direct training
  • A deep passion for improving lives of people with autism
  • Experience in supported living or residential care settings
  • The ability to challenge standard approaches and see potential in people
  • Flexibility to travel nationally with autonomy over your diary
  • A strong understanding of autism-related legislation and best practice

We are especially keen to speak with candidates who bring a hands-on background in psychology, social care, or specialist autism services, and who are comfortable leading training, supporting staff, and acting as a strategic resource across the UK.

Why Apply?

  • National expert-level role with real impact
  • £60,000 basic + Generous car allowance + bonus scheme
  • Flexible and autonomous diary management
  • Opportunities to chair forums and shape national care delivery
  • Work closely with an experienced senior leader with a Master’s in Autism

Next Steps:

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join one of the UK’s most respected social care organisations in a high-impact, values-led role.
