Overview

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Ward Manager to lead an 11-bedded Acute CAMHS Ward supporting young people aged 13–18 experiencing complex mental health needs. The service provides high-quality, person-centred care for individuals with conditions such as psychosis, mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety, and trauma.

 

You’ll be joining a dedicated multi-disciplinary team including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and therapists, all working collaboratively to deliver safe, compassionate, and effective care. This is a full-time, permanent role (37.5 hours per week) within a well-established private mental health hospital.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day running of the ward, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee safe staffing levels, skill mix, and rota management, ensuring resources are used effectively.
  • Support, develop, and supervise the nursing team through appraisals, clinical supervision, and ongoing professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and governance standards, contributing to audits and service improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a positive, therapeutic culture where patients feel supported, respected, and empowered in their recovery journey.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider MDT to develop and implement individualised care plans.

 

 

Candidate Requirements

 

  • Registered Nurse (RMN/RNLD) with active NMC registration or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum two years’ supervisory experience within a relevant mental health or inpatient setting.
  • Proven experience managing clinical teams and overseeing rota management and performance development.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Confident in clinical governance, audit processes, and driving service improvement.
  • Compassionate, resilient, and committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
