Overview

 

Are you an experienced and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse with a passion for leading teams that make a difference in the lives of young people?

 

We’re seeking a Ward Manager to lead a small, dedicated CAMHS ward supporting young people aged 13–18 with a range of complex mental health needs. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team that provides evidence-based, person-centred care in a therapeutic and supportive environment.

 

This is a full-time, 37.5-hour-per-week position within a well-established private mental health hospital setting that promotes clinical excellence, staff wellbeing, and continuous professional development.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Provide effective leadership and day-to-day management of the ward, ensuring safe and high-quality care delivery.
  • Oversee staffing levels, skill mix, and rota management to ensure the ward operates efficiently and safely.
  • Support, supervise, and appraise nursing staff, ensuring CPD, mandatory training, and clinical supervision requirements are met.
  • Lead on clinical governance, audits, and service improvement initiatives.
  • Foster a compassionate and positive team culture focused on recovery and person-centred outcomes.
  • Contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised care plans.
  • Act as a visible role model for best practice and uphold the highest standards of professional conduct.

 

 

Candidate Requirements

 

  • Registered Nurse (RMN/RNLD) with a valid NMC registration.
  • Minimum of two years’ supervisory experience within a relevant mental health or CAMHS setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams in a clinical environment.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with experience managing rotas, appraisals, and staff development.
  • Confident in clinical audit and service improvement.
  • Computer literate, resilient, and committed to maintaining a safe and therapeutic ward culture.
  • Trained Assessor/Supervisor qualification desirable.
