Consultant Anaesthetist

South Coast | Permanent | Full-time or Part-time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Anaesthetist to join a well-established independent surgical hospital on the South Coast. This is a permanent position offering both full-time and part-time opportunities within a modern elective surgical environment.

The Role

You will provide high-quality anaesthetic services across a range of elective surgical specialties, with an initial focus on Ophthalmology and General Surgery. Additional specialties include:

  • Orthopaedics

  • Gynaecology

  • General Surgery

  • Ophthalmology

  • ENT

  • Urology

  • Dental Surgery

The service is predominantly elective, with emergency work limited to occasional returns to theatre for postoperative patients.

As part of the consultant team, you will:

  • Deliver safe, high-quality anaesthetic care.

  • Work closely with surgeons, theatre teams and multidisciplinary colleagues.

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records.

  • Participate in departmental development, clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Support the ongoing delivery and development of anaesthetic services.

About You

To be considered, you will have:

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.

  • Specialist Registration (GMC) in Anaesthetics.

  • Completion of recognised specialist training in Anaesthesia.

  • Several years' consultant-level experience, including at least two years practising within the UK.

  • Broad experience delivering anaesthetic services across a variety of surgical specialties.

  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • A commitment to continuous professional development, education and delivering exceptional patient care.
