Lead Occupational Health Advisor
Location: West Yorkshire – Hybrid Working (2 Days at home, 3 on site)
Salary: £49,000 – £53,000 + Pay Award Pending
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Overview
Compass Associates are working with a highly regarded organisation in West Yorkshire to recruit a Lead Occupational Health Advisor for their established in-house Occupational Health service.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Occupational Health Nurse or Advisor who wants to combine hands-on clinical work with leadership and service development, without moving into a heavily strategic management position.
You’ll take the lead on more complex OH cases while supporting the day-to-day running of a small, established team.
Applications are welcomed from existing Senior/Lead OH professionals as well as experienced OH Advisors ready to take their first step into leadership.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day clinical delivery of the Occupational Health service.

Manage, support and develop the wider OH team.

Undertake complex management referrals and sickness absence cases.

Advise on fitness for work, workplace adjustments and return-to-work plans.

Provide senior clinical guidance to managers, HR and colleagues.

Support clinical supervision, appraisals and staff development.

Oversee referral triage and appropriate allocation of cases.

Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and service delivery.

Use OH data and trends to support health initiatives and service improvements.

Work alongside an experienced Occupational Physician on more complex cases.
Essential Criteria

Significant Occupational Health nursing experience.

Strong experience of management referrals and sickness absence case management.

Confidence managing complex cases and making independent clinical decisions.

Good knowledge of Occupational Health legislation and professional standards.

Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
-
Comfortable using Occupational Health databases and electronic clinical records.

Proactive approach to service improvement.
Qualifications
-
Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
-
Completed formal Occupational Health qualification – Certificate, Diploma, Degree or equivalent.

Evidence of ongoing Occupational Health CPD.

Full UK driving licence.
Previous line-management experience is desirable but not essential. Candidates looking to make their first move from an experienced OHA position into a Lead role are encouraged to apply.
