Compass Associates are proud to be partnering with a growing, family-owned elderly care provider in the recruitment of a Clinical Deputy Manager for one of their nursing homes in Leeds.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse leader to join an established senior management team and work alongside a newly appointed Home Manager during an exciting period of improvement and development.
Supporting the Home Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operational and clinical leadership of the service, ensuring high standards of care, governance and staff performance are consistently maintained. The position combines hands-on clinical leadership with supernumerary management responsibilities, allowing you to remain visible within the home whilst driving quality improvement, compliance and staff development.
This role would suit an experienced Clinical Deputy Manager or an ambitious Clinical Lead looking to step into their first Deputy Manager position.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will be a Registered General Nurse with previous leadership experience within an elderly nursing home.
You will be an organised, approachable and confident leader who enjoys supporting and developing clinical teams. You'll be comfortable making decisions, managing performance where necessary and maintaining high clinical standards whilst creating a positive working culture.
You'll work closely with the Home Manager to develop the nursing team, improve governance and help shape the future direction of the home. Requirements – Essential
- Active NMC Registration (RGN preferred)
- Previous experience as a Clinical Deputy Manager, Deputy Manager or Clinical Lead within an elderly nursing home
- Strong clinical knowledge of elderly nursing care
- Excellent understanding of CQC regulations and clinical governance
- Experience leading, coaching and developing nursing teams
- Experience undertaking clinical audits and quality improvement
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Flexible approach to weekend working, shared on-call and occasional night support
Desirable
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care
- Experience supporting successful CQC inspections
- Experience within turnaround or improving services
- Experience using electronic care planning systems
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Home Manager with the day-to-day management of the home
- Provide clinical leadership across the nursing team
- Complete a mixture of clinical and supernumerary shifts
- Lead medication management, audits and governance processes
- Support compliance with CQC standards and organisational policies
- Develop and mentor nurses, seniors and care staff
- Investigate incidents and drive continuous quality improvement
- Promote high standards of person-centred care
- Support recruitment, inductions, supervision and staff development
- Participate in the shared on-call rota and provide occasional weekend or night support when required

Interview Process
The recruitment process will consist of a face-to-face interview with the Home Manager, followed by a second-stage Teams interview with the Operations Manager and Regional Manager.
