Overview:

Compass Associates are proud to be working in partnership with a leading specialist provider of therapeutic residential and education services for young people to recruit a Psychotherapist to join their established clinical team.

The service is a specialist SEMH school which supports young people from age 11 to 18–19 who have experienced significant trauma, abuse and complex interpersonal difficulties, with harmful sexual behaviour forming part of the referral criteria. The organisation operates an integrated model combining residential care, education and specialist clinical support, with therapists working closely alongside the wider team to provide consistent therapeutic approaches.

We are seeking a qualified Psychotherapist to manage a small caseload of young people, delivering individual talking therapy alongside assessment, formulation, risk management, specialist report writing and consultation with the wider care and education teams.

This is a genuinely specialist clinical opportunity, offering the chance to develop experience within a complex and niche area of therapeutic practice. Previous experience of harmful sexual behaviour is not essential, with transferable experience from mental health, CAMHS or adult-focused therapy backgrounds considered.

Location:

This is a fully site-based clinical role within a specialist therapeutic and education service in the Malvern, Worcester area.

The Psychotherapist will be based primarily within a dedicated therapy building, with two therapy rooms, office space and facilities for the clinical team.

Working Pattern:

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Typical working hours are 9:00am–5:00pm, with some flexibility around start and finish times depending on the needs of the young people.

Criteria:

• Qualified Psychotherapist, such as Cognitive Behavioural, Integrative, Psychodynamic or another recognised talking therapy discipline
• Relevant Master's degree or postgraduate qualification preferred
• Candidates with an undergraduate degree may be considered where they can demonstrate substantial relevant experience, particularly around complex clinical work and report writing
• Registration with a recognised professional body such as BACP, UKCP, BABCP, NCPS or equivalent
• Commitment to working towards professional accreditation where not already accredited
• Mental health background

Responsibilities Include:

• Managing a caseload of up to 7-8 young people with complex trauma histories, harmful sexual behaviour and associated interpersonal and behavioural difficulties
• Contributing to risk assessment and ongoing risk management
• Producing detailed and specialist clinical reports, including documentation relating to care planning and looked-after child reviews
• Working closely with Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Assistant Psychologists, residential staff and education colleagues
• Providing therapeutic consultation and support to the wider team
• Attending looked-after child reviews, personal planning meetings and other multidisciplinary discussions where appropriate
• Undertaking DBT training following successful completion of probation if not already trained

Interview Process:

The interview process is typically completed within one stage, held virtually with the Clinical Manager and Senior Psychotherapist.
