Compass Associates’ Senior Care division partners with one of the nation’s leading non-profit, Catholic health systems, dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care for all, especially those who need it most. Their network includes more than 2,600 sites of care in 20 states and the District of Columbia.
The Compass Associates team were appointed to support the recruitment of their new SVP Operations, Senior Living. Reporting to the COO, this newly created position assumed operational responsibility for 26 senior living communities spanning 11 States, including their new build / acquisition pipeline.
Overview of Key Requirements
- Senior operations experience within Senior Living / Independent Living
- Evidenced and successful track record of increasing occupancy
- Demonstrated financial acumen, including P&L Management & design pricing structures
- Able to design and implement policies and procedures
- Strategic thinker and planner
- Results and outcome driven
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time
Key Challenges
Attracting passive candidates Often, the most suitable candidates aligned to brief aren’t “actively” on the market. They’re typically highly engaged with their roles, achieving KPI’s and bonus etc. A crucial part of the process was around initial contact and “selling” the organization, their values, and the opportunity.
Geographical remit With the role spanning 11 States and involving large amounts of travel / remote working, the search had to be replicated across multiple areas to ensure all bases were covered. Although replicating the search wasn’t a challenge in itself, the time involved to carry out this level of due diligence in a time efficient manner provided the challenge.
