Salary: £12.85 per hour weekdays | £13.85 per hour weekends
Contracted Hours: Full-Time | Day Shifts | Alternate Weekends Required

Overview

Compass Associates are delighted to be supporting a well-established, privately owned elderly nursing home in the recruitment of Healthcare Assistants to join its experienced care team in the Chichester area.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and dependable Healthcare Assistant who is passionate about delivering outstanding care to older people and wants to become part of a friendly, resident-focused nursing home.

 

The home provides residential and nursing care for up to 30 residents, creating a smaller and more personal environment where staff are able to build meaningful relationships with the people they support.

 

Residents have a variety of individual care needs, including general nursing, physical disabilities, Parkinson's disease, stroke care, COPD, acquired brain injuries and palliative/end-of-life care.

 

The service is focused on providing individualised care that promotes dignity, independence, choice and quality of life, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who genuinely wants to make a difference to the lives of older people.

 

About the Role

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred care to residents.
  • Support residents with personal care, including washing, dressing and continence needs.
  • Assist residents with mobility and transfers where required.
  • Support residents with eating, drinking and maintaining good nutrition and hydration.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support.
  • Encourage residents to maintain their independence wherever possible.
  • Follow individual care plans and ensure residents' personal preferences are respected.
  • Observe residents' health and wellbeing and report any changes or concerns to the nursing team.
  • Work closely with Registered Nurses, senior carers and fellow Healthcare Assistants.
  • Maintain accurate care documentation.
  • Promote dignity, privacy, independence and choice at all times.

This is a permanent position working day shifts, including alternate weekends.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate and individualised care.
  • Support residents with all aspects of their daily living needs.
  • Assist with personal care whilst maintaining dignity and privacy.
  • Support residents with mobility and safe moving and handling.
  • Assist with meals, nutrition and hydration.
  • Provide companionship and build positive relationships with residents.
  • Support residents living with a variety of physical and nursing needs.
  • Recognise and report changes in residents' health or behaviour.
  • Follow care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control.
  • Complete accurate care records and documentation.
  • Work effectively as part of the wider nursing and care team.
  • Communicate professionally with residents, relatives and colleagues.
  • Help maintain a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment within the home.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant or Care Assistant is preferred.
  • Experience within an elderly residential or nursing home environment would be advantageous.
  • Full right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
  • A genuine passion for supporting older people.
  • Compassionate, patient and respectful approach to care.
  • Comfortable supporting residents with personal care.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable and committed to providing consistent care.
  • Flexibility to work alternate weekends.

You'll be a caring, approachable and dependable Healthcare Assistant who understands that exceptional care is about much more than completing day-to-day tasks.

 

You'll take the time to get to know the residents you support, understand their individual preferences and help them retain as much independence and choice as possible.

 

You'll enjoy working as part of a close-knit team and be comfortable supporting residents with a variety of needs while recognising when something has changed and needs to be escalated to a senior member of the team.

 

Above all, you'll be someone who treats every resident with the same dignity, patience and compassion you would expect for a member of your own family.
