The Home
This is a large, established 75-bed care home in Bexleyheath providing nursing, residential and dementia care.
Set across three floors, the home supports residents with a range of care needs and requires an experienced leader who can provide strong, visible and consistent management across the service.
The home provides a supportive environment focused on personalised care, resident wellbeing and maintaining high standards across all areas of the service.
With its size and diverse resident population, this is a substantial operation requiring a confident Home Manager who can lead strategically while remaining closely engaged with the day-to-day running of the home.
The service is now looking for an experienced leader to take ownership of the home, strengthen standards and lead its next stage of development.
The Opportunity
As Home Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the quality, operational performance, culture and commercial performance of the home.
This is an opportunity for an experienced leader to take ownership of an established 75-bed service and drive positive change across the home.
You will lead from the front, working closely with your management team and wider workforce to establish clear expectations, strengthen standards and ensure consistently high-quality, person-centred care.
The role requires someone who can balance strategic leadership with strong operational grip, using data and performance information to inform decisions and identify opportunities for improvement.
You will be responsible for:
- Providing strong, visible leadership across the home
- Leading, developing and motivating the management and wider care teams
- Driving high standards of person-centred care and resident experience
- Ensuring robust governance, compliance and quality assurance
- Maintaining strong CQC and regulatory standards
- Leading recruitment, retention and workforce development
- Managing performance and creating a culture of accountability
- Supporting occupancy and the commercial performance of the home
- Working alongside sales and marketing teams to support continued occupancy
- Managing budgets and ensuring resources are used effectively
- Building strong relationships with residents, relatives and families
- Developing effective relationships with regulators, healthcare professionals and community stakeholders
- Using data and operational insight to inform decision-making
- Leading change and ensuring improvements are embedded sustainably
About You
We are looking for a proven and credible Home Manager with experience leading a sizeable care service.
You will ideally have a background within nursing, residential or dementia care, alongside a proven track record of improving standards, developing teams and delivering positive outcomes.
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a Home Manager or equivalent senior operational leader
- Experience managing a large care home or complex service
- Strong knowledge of nursing, residential and/or dementia care
- A strong understanding of CQC, governance and quality assurance
- Proven experience leading and developing large teams
- Experience of change management and service improvement
- Strong commercial awareness, including occupancy and budget management
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong IT skills and confidence using data to inform decisions
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- The ability to influence and engage effectively at all levels
Nurse qualification is preferred, although candidates from a strong non-clinical management background may be considered where they can demonstrate the required level of operational and leadership experience.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate a strong CQC inspection history, previous turnaround or improvement experience, and evidence of successfully developing teams and improving service performance.
