The Role
This position as Cardiac Physiologist – Echocardiography is a key clinical role within the new Welbeck Oxford Hospital.
Working exclusively within the outpatient setting, this role offers the opportunity to operationally lead and develop the Cardiac Echocardiography service in a modern, consultant-led environment with no theatre commitments.
This is an echo-heavy role with a strong emphasis on advanced non-invasive cardiac diagnostics. Working closely alongside Consultant Cardiologists, you will independently perform and report a wide range of specialist investigations while supporting high standards of patient care, governance and service development.
As the dedicated Cardiac Physiologist on site, you will work autonomously whilst building strong relationships with Consultants, nursing colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of a seamless and exceptional patient experience.
You will also support trainee physiologists and contribute to maintaining a culture of learning, safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Independently perform and report a range of specialist investigations including:

Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE).
-
Stress Echocardiography.
-
Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography.
-
Bubble studies and contrast echocardiography.
-
Exercise Treadmill Testing (ETT).
-
Ambulatory ECG analysis.
-
Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring analysis.
-
ECG interpretation and reporting.
Working closely with Consultant Cardiologists, you will contribute to accurate diagnosis and support the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based patient care.
Service Leadership
You will:

Operationally lead the Cardiac Echocardiography service.

Support the day-to-day running of outpatient cardiac clinics.
-
Ensure equipment availability, maintenance and cleanliness.
-
Maintain appropriate stock levels and support procurement processes.
-
Participate in audit, governance and quality improvement initiatives.
-
Promote safe and effective patient pathways.
-
Maintain compliance with CQC standards and organisational policies.
Education and Training
You will:

Support trainee and student physiologists.

What Can You Bring?
Essential
-
Degree in Clinical Physiology or Healthcare Science or equivalent.
-
British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) accreditation.
-
SCST proficiency in ECG.
-
Minimum two years post-qualification experience.
-
Proven experience independently performing and reporting echocardiograms.
-
Experience undertaking stress echocardiography, dobutamine stress echo, contrast studies and bubble studies.
-
Experience with exercise treadmill testing.
-
Experience analysing ambulatory ECG and blood pressure recordings.
-
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
