Job Title: Registered Manager – Residential Services

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum

Hours: Permanent, Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Location: Greater Manchester / Derbyshire 

Setting: Adults with Learning Disabilities, Mental Health and Complex Needs

Overview:

Compass Associates partners with a well-established care provider in the search for an experienced Registered Manager to lead a large residential service supporting adults with learning disabilities, mental health needs and complex behaviours. The service supports 26 people across five properties set around a central courtyard, each with its own dedicated team. This role offers genuine autonomy, a strong existing staff structure and a clear route into future projects, including a new service opening in Stoke-on-Trent.

The Candidate:

The Registered Manager takes full responsibility for the leadership and daily operation of the service, ensuring compliance with CQC regulations and promoting person-centred care across a diverse resident group. The role suits a resilient, hands-on leader who wants to build strong relationships with both staff and the people supported, rather than operate from behind a desk. Previous experience managing a large residential service, ideally with a mental health element, is a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Management
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations, leading a multi-layered staff team including deputy manager, service coordinators and shift leaders, and building a positive, accountable culture.
• Quality Care
  • Ensuring residents receive care tailored to their individual needs, with regular review of care plans in line with PBS strategies to support independence and community integration.
• Regulatory Compliance
  • Maintaining full compliance with CQC standards, conducting audits and addressing any gaps in practice or documentation.
• Staff Development
  • Providing supervision, training and performance management across the team, with a focus on upskilling shift leaders and service coordinators into their full role.
• Financial & Operational Oversight
  • Managing budgets and resourcing, maintaining full occupancy and supporting the wider growth plans of the organisation.

Essential Requirements:

• NVQ Level 5 in Leadership for Health & Social Care, or equivalent
• Previous experience as a Registered Manager, essential
• Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism and/or mental health needs within a residential or supported living setting
• Strong working knowledge of MCA, DoLS, safeguarding and relevant legislation
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a large staff team
• Calm and resilient under pressure, with strong organisational skills
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience managing a large or multi-site residential service
• Experience working with individuals presenting complex mental health needs
