Full-time / Part-time | Permanent

South West Leeds

Are you a Registered Veterinary Nurse with an interest in physiotherapy and rehabilitation?

Are you passionate about mobility, recovery, pain management, and improving quality of life for patients following injury, surgery, or chronic disease?

A unique opportunity has arisen for an RVN to join a purpose-built rehabilitation service linked to a large multidisciplinary veterinary hospital on the outskirts of Leeds. This role offers the opportunity to combine rehabilitation-focused nursing with wider hospital nursing responsibilities across both first opinion and referral caseloads.

No previous rehabilitation experience is required for this position. Full training and support will be provided for an RVN with genuine enthusiasm, curiosity, and a strong interest in developing within rehabilitation and physiotherapy.

The position is ideally suited to someone looking to build a special interest in rehabilitation while remaining clinically involved within a busy hospital setting.

The Role

This is a split-site role, with approximately 1–2 days per week based within the dedicated rehabilitation branch and the remaining working days spent within the main veterinary hospital. The rehabilitation branch operates separately from the hospital site and provides focused rehabilitation and mobility support for referred patients.

There is also the opportunity for rehabilitation days to increase in the future as the service continues to grow.

Within the rehabilitation branch, responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering physiotherapy and rehabilitation support to a varied caseload
  • Assisting with hydrotherapy and underwater treadmill sessions
  • Supporting patients recovering from orthopaedic and neurological procedures
  • Assisting with chronic pain and long-term mobility management
  • Supporting tailored rehabilitation and exercise programmes
  • Providing client guidance and homecare support
  • Working closely alongside veterinary surgeons to support patient recovery plans

The remaining days within the hospital will involve working across a varied multidisciplinary caseload, supporting both first opinion and referral services. This allows you to maintain and further develop your wider nursing skillset while remaining integrated within a large clinical team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an RVN looking for variety, progression, and the chance to combine rehabilitation nursing with broader hospital experience.

The Practice

The rehabilitation service forms part of a large, modern veterinary hospital offering both first opinion and referral services across a wide range of disciplines. The wider caseload includes orthopaedics, neurology, medicine, surgery, imaging, ECC, and inpatient care, creating a stimulating and collaborative clinical environment.

The dedicated rehabilitation branch is purpose-built and fully equipped to support advanced recovery and mobility programmes. Facilities include hydrotherapy, an extra-large underwater treadmill, therapeutic ultrasound, electrotherapy modalities, thermotherapy, massage therapy, and structured rehabilitation exercise programmes.

Patients are managed through tailored recovery plans designed to optimise comfort, mobility, and long-term outcomes, with a strong focus on continuity of care and clinical collaboration between departments.

The wider team is supportive, progressive, and committed to maintaining high clinical standards while encouraging ongoing development and learning.

The Individual

  • Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
  • Strong interest in rehabilitation and physiotherapy
  • Passionate about patient recovery, mobility, and long-term wellbeing
  • Keen to learn and develop within rehabilitation nursing
  • Confident communicator with a compassionate and patient-focused approach
  • Enjoys working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment
  • Motivated to continue developing clinical knowledge and practical skills

What’s in it for you?

  • Competitive salary up to £34,000 depending on experience
  • Generous CPD allowance with support for rehabilitation-focused development
  • Pension scheme
  • Paid professional memberships (RCVS, BVNA, VDS)
  • Social events and strong emphasis on wellbeing
  • Exclusive staff discounts and rewards
  • Opportunity to work within a purpose-built rehabilitation service alongside a large multidisciplinary hospital
  • Exposure to both rehabilitation and wider hospital nursing caseloads
  • Future opportunity to increase rehabilitation-based working days
