We are working with a respected multidisciplinary veterinary hospital near Swindon seeking a Surgery Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their close-knit and collaborative team. The Role:

 

This opportunity is open to both full-time and part-time applicants.

Full-time hours are typically structured across four 10-hour shifts per week, with working hours scheduled between 8am and 6pm. This includes 1 in 8 weekends, with time back in lieu provided during the following week.

 

The role is heavily surgery-focused and offers the opportunity to be involved in a wide variety of advanced procedures within a busy hospital environment.

 

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring anaesthesia and sedation for surgical and imaging procedures
  • Assisting within theatre and scrubbing into surgical cases
  • Preparing and organising theatre and surgical equipment
  • Clipping and preparing patients for procedures
  • Supporting patient admissions and discharges
  • Maintaining surgical instruments and equipment
  • Delivering high standards of inpatient nursing care
  • Working closely with surgeons, nurses, and theatre technicians across a varied caseload

You will work alongside an experienced and supportive clinical team, with exposure to both orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures on a daily basis.

This is a modern multidisciplinary veterinary hospital located near Swindon, Wiltshire. The hospital is cat-friendly and places a strong emphasis on delivering the highest standards of patient and client care.

 

The caseload is broad and varied, with services including orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, cardiology, neurology, internal medicine, dentistry, ophthalmology, diagnostic imaging, ECC, and primary care.

The surgery department itself is supported by a highly experienced team including specialist surgeons, dedicated surgery nurses, and theatre technicians covering both orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures.

This provides an excellent environment for nurses looking to further develop their surgical and anaesthesia skills within a busy hospital setting.

The Individual:

  • Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
  • Minimum of 1 year post-qualification experience
  • Previous surgical nursing experience desirable
  • Passionate about delivering high standards of patient care
  • Enjoys working within a busy and team-focused environment
