Deputy Manager | Elderly Residential & Dementia Care Home

Salary: £35’000 - £40’000 a year + Quarterly Performance Bonus
Hours: 48 hours per week (50% Supernumerary)

We are proud to be working with a warm, community-focused care home in Thirsk, recently awarded ‘Good’ with the CQC. The Home Manager has led a remarkable turnaround since joining three years ago, building a strong reputation within the community and creating a supportive team culture.

The home is now seeking a compassionate, proactive and reliable Deputy Manager who can support both the leadership team and the care staff on the floor.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced deputy, or a confident senior carer/team leader ready for development, to join a well-run home where flexibility, teamwork, and resident-focused care are at the heart of everything.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Home Manager with day-to-day operations and compliance
  • Deliver high-quality dementia and elderly care
  • Complete and support audits, safeguarding responsibilities, and CQC compliance
  • Mentor senior carers and the wider care team
  • Work 24 hours a week on the floor per week providing hands-on leadership
  • Complete three supernumerary days focusing on management, admin, and staff support
  • Work alternate weekends on the floor
  • Share on-call duties with the Home Manager
  • Act as a role model for best practice, professionalism, and compassionate care
  • Build strong relationships with residents, families, and the local community

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in a care home setting (Ideally 1 year in senior carer/team leader/deputy position)
  • Dementia experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of CQC, safeguarding, and care governance
  • Able to lead by example and guide senior carers
  • Confident identifying issues and addressing them promptly
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a genuine passion for elderly care
  • Someone reliable, trustworthy, and aligned with the home’s high standards

Candidates from other care backgrounds may also be considered depending on transferable skills.
