A specialist mental health hospital in Hertfordshire is seeking a HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical, Counselling, or Forensic) to join its multidisciplinary team. This is a part-time position within a purpose-built rehabilitation setting that also provides acute, psychiatric intensive care, and secure services.
You will be part of a compassionate, patient-centred environment focused on recovery, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based psychological practice. The service supports adults with a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and complex mental health needs, offering diverse clinical pathways within one integrated site.
Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist psychological assessments, formulations, and interventions using evidence-based models such as CBT, ACT, DBT, systemic or psychodynamic approaches.
- Provide both individual and group psychological therapies for adults presenting with complex mental health difficulties, including depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, or personality-related challenges.
- Contribute expert psychological insight within a multidisciplinary team to support holistic planning, risk management, and treatment reviews.
- Offer consultation, supervision, and training to colleagues, trainees, and external professionals to strengthen psychologically informed practice across the service.
- Maintain high standards of clinical governance through accurate record-keeping, adherence to professional guidelines, and participation in audit, research, and service evaluation.
- Support innovation and service development by using data, outcomes, and feedback to enhance patient experience and treatment effectiveness.
- Engage in ongoing CPD activities to maintain HCPC registration and ensure clinical practice reflects current research and policy.
Candidate Requirements
- HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical, Counselling, or Forensic) with a recognised doctoral-level or equivalent qualification.
- Significant experience delivering psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention within adult mental health settings.
- Skilled in working with presentations such as trauma, psychosis, anxiety, depression, and personality difficulties.
- Confident in delivering both individual and group-based psychological therapies.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed, recovery-focused, and person-centred models of care.
- Experience contributing to MDT discussions, risk management processes, and holistic care planning.
- Resilient, empathetic, and capable of working effectively in a dynamic clinical environment where no two days are the same.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, service improvement, and maintaining high ethical and clinical standards.
