About the Role
This is a senior clinical leadership position reporting to the Director of Clinical Services.
You will lead the Children & Young People nursing team while working clinically as a strong role model. The post holder will be responsible for delivering safe, high-quality paediatric care across outpatient and day-case services.
Key responsibilities include:
• Assessing, planning and implementing specialist paediatric care
• Developing nurse-led services including surgical pre-assessment
• Supporting patients undergoing investigations and procedures
• Recognising and managing paediatric emergencies alongside the medical team
• Developing service-specific policies, guidelines and audits
• Ensuring compliance with NMC standards and evidence-based practice
• Leading education, mentorship and competency development across the centre
• Ensuring safe staffing levels and appropriate skill mix
• Leading service improvement projects and contributing to QAPI and governance committees
• Supporting safeguarding, infection control and regulatory compliance
This role requires a visible, proactive leader who can coordinate CYP services day-to-day while driving continuous quality improvement.
What can you bring?
• Registered Paediatric Nurse (NMC Registered)
• Educated to degree level (Master’s level desirable or working towards)
• Experience at Band 6 level or equivalent within a relevant paediatric speciality
• Demonstrable experience of service development and leadership
• Experience working within MDT environments
• Teaching, supervision or mentorship experience
• EPLS/APLS (or willingness to undertake)
• Strong knowledge of paediatric clinical standards and governance
• Ability to design, implement and audit standards of care
• Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
• Strong IT literacy
• A genuine passion for improving CYP patient and family experience
You will be forward-thinking, adaptable, resilient, and able to prioritise in a dynamic environment.
