Associate Headteacher
Somerset | £50,000–£62,000 per annum
Compass Associates is working in partnership with a leading specialist education provider to appoint an Associate Headteacher for an established specialist SEN school in Somerset.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced education leader to join an established senior leadership team within a specialist provision supporting children and young people with complex needs and challenging behaviours.
The School
The school provides specialist education for approximately 40 pupils with additional needs, with a particular focus on supporting children who present with challenging behaviours.
Pupils benefit from an individualised approach to learning, with classes organised around ability to create supportive learning environments and enable pupils to make meaningful progress.
The provision is continuing to grow, with increasing pupil numbers and further opportunities to develop its educational offering.
The Role
Reporting into the Headteacher and working closely with the Executive Headteacher, the Associate Headteacher will play an important role in the day-to-day leadership and development of the school.
The position combines pastoral leadership with curriculum management, providing an opportunity to influence both the educational experience and wider outcomes for pupils.
Key responsibilities will include:
Supporting the Headteacher with the effective leadership and management of the school.
Providing oversight of pastoral provision, pupil welfare and behaviour management.
Leading and supporting curriculum development and delivery.
Monitoring teaching, learning and pupil progress to maintain high educational standards.
Supporting, developing and motivating teaching and support staff.
Contributing to the strategic development and continued growth of the provision.
Promoting a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment for pupils with complex needs.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be an experienced education professional with a background in specialist education, ideally within SEN, SEMH or alternative provision.
You will have a strong understanding of supporting children with additional needs and challenging behaviours, alongside the ability to lead colleagues, maintain educational standards and contribute to wider school improvement.
