Location: Greater London area (with travel to Royal Star & Garter Homes)
Salary: Up to £85,000 per annum plus benefits package.

Compass Associates are proud to be partnering with Royal Star & Garter in the recruitment of a Deputy Director of Wellbeing & Care.
This appointment sits at the heart of an exciting period of transformation, as the charity launches a bold five-year strategy designed to redefine how care and support is delivered to the UK’s Armed Forces community.
The strategy will see Royal Star & Garter build on its outstanding residential care provision and develop a truly integrated, national model of community-based support.
The Role
The Deputy Director of Wellbeing & Care will play a key senior leadership role, supporting the Director of Care & Wellbeing in delivering safe, high-quality, person-centred care across all Homes and services.
The postholder will provide visible, compassionate and operational leadership across clinical care, wellbeing and service quality, ensuring residents experience consistently excellent care and fulfilling lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support delivery of the organisation’s care and wellbeing strategy during an important period of transformation
- Lead improvements in dementia care, wellbeing services and occupancy performance
- Provide visible leadership across Homes, particularly during operational or regulatory pressure
- Strengthen governance, quality assurance and safety frameworks, including alignment with Care Quality Commission standards and PSIRF processes
- Oversee and support development of leaders across dementia, wellbeing and care teams
- Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across all Homes and services
- Build strong relationships with NHS partners, commissioners and veteran organisations
- Champion a compassionate, inclusive and learning-focused culture
About the Candidate
The successful candidate will be a warm, credible and values-led leader who brings both strategic clarity and operational presence.
You will have
- A clinical or social care qualification (Nurse, Allied Health Professional or Social Care)
- Senior leadership experience within the nursing home environment.
- Strong understanding of governance, quality improvement and regulation
- Experience supporting dementia care and/or wellbeing services
- A collaborative, people-focused leadership style
