Compass Associates are currently working in partnership with a leading specialist care provider that provide a variety of services across substance misuse, learning disabilities and mental health. With a strong national presence and over 250 locations across the UK, they are now seeking a Financial Controller to join their team as they continue to expand their services across the UK and build on their already strong reputation within the sector.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee financial accounting, statutory reporting, and regulatory compliance across the organisation.
• Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, strengthening financial controls and fostering accountability.
• Drive automation, digital transformation, and streamlined processes to improve efficiency and insight.
• Act as a strategic business partner, supporting key projects and shaping the organisation’s financial strategy.
• Deliver timely, accurate financial statements and management information, providing actionable insight.
• Maintain technical and regulatory expertise, including VAT, pensions, and audit requirements.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with auditors, advisers, insurers, banks, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure robust internal controls, manage audits, and support fraud prevention initiatives.
• Champion continuous improvement and embed a culture of learning, high performance, and operational excellence

Requirements:

• At least 5 years in a senior finance position
• Expertise in technical accounting, financial controls and reporting
• Experience leading change and implementing automation or new systems
• Knowledge of defined benefit pension schemes
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
• Experience within the health and social care sector is highly desirable
