Occupational Therapist – Eating Disorders

A leading independent healthcare provider is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join a specialist Eating Disorder inpatient service. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours) within a highly regarded clinical environment known for delivering compassionate, person-centred care and excellent patient outcomes.

 

You will join a well-established multidisciplinary team supporting individuals experiencing complex mental health challenges, including eating disorders, mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, and personality disorders. Working collaboratively, the team is committed to promoting recovery, dignity, and independence through evidence-based interventions.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Deliver specialist occupational therapy assessments and tailored interventions for individuals with eating disorders, focusing on restoring functional ability, independence, and engagement in meaningful daily activities.
  • Facilitate individual and group OT sessions covering areas such as meal planning, sensory regulation, emotional management, body image rehabilitation, and building healthy routines.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to integrated, person-centred care plans that combine psychological, nutritional, medical, and therapeutic support.
  • Support transitions across inpatient, day programme, and community settings by promoting recovery-focused routines, relapse prevention strategies, and sustainable lifestyle changes.
  • Maintain high-quality clinical documentation, contribute to care reviews, and engage in service audits, ensuring alignment with HCPC standards and best-practice guidance.
  • Participate in service development initiatives and contribute to a supportive, recovery-focused ward culture.

 

 

Candidate Requirements

 

  • A recognised degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy and active HCPC registration.
  • Experience within eating disorder services or mental health settings is strongly desirable, though strong newly qualified candidates with relevant placements will be considered.
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and clinical reasoning skills.
  • A compassionate, recovery-focused approach, with the resilience required to support individuals through both the challenges and successes of their treatment journey.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute positively to a therapeutic environment.
