Ophthalmic Scrub Nurse – Private Clinic

£38,000–£42,000 per annum plus Free Parking, Pension Scheme, Blue Light Card & Amazing Development Opportunities

Compass Associates are currently working with one of the UKs leading providers of NHS ophthalmology services, caring for thousands of patients each year across their specialist eye clinics. Their mission is simple: to change lives through better sight and eye health.

 

At present, we are currently in search for a dedicated Ophthalmic Scrub Nurse to support the growth of their theatre services in their beautiful, modern and purpose built clinic in Chester.

 

The Role

This is a key theatre-based role supporting the growing ophthalmic surgical service. We are able to consider candidates on a full-time contract working 40 hours  per week across Monday to Friday (with occasional Saturdays on rotation), or on a part-time basis dependent on your preference. You will play a vital role in ensuring smooth, safe, high-quality procedures for around 20 patients per day, contributing across the full surgical pathway:

 

Responsibilities

  • Act as scrub nurse for ophthalmic procedures, ensuring sterile and efficient theatre practice.
  • Support patients from pre-operative assessment through to post-operative care.
  • Assist with clinical assessments and reassure patients before surgery.
  • Provide post-op advice, medication guidance, and clear discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, uphold infection control standards, and support wider clinical governance.
  • Support outpatient and diagnostic clinics where required.

 

Requirements

  • RGN with current NMC Registration
  • Proven ophthalmic scrub experience
  • Strong understanding of ophthalmic theatre protocols and patient safety.
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy, high-volume surgical environment.
  • Excellent communication and patient-support skills.
  • Additional skills in in diagnostic investigations (Biometry, OCT, Topography, Visual Fields etc.) will be advantageous
