Orthopaedic Scrub Nurse – Leading Private Hospital

Compass Associates are proud to be working with an award-winning healthcare organisation, who are currently recruiting for an experienced Orthopaedic Theatre Practitioner to join their Theatres Department. The Candidate                

As an Orthopaedic Scrub Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality perioperative care across a range of orthopaedic procedures. Working closely with Surgeons, Anaesthetists, the Orthopaedic Theatre Lead and your theatre colleagues, you will ensure procedures run smoothly while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and clinical excellence.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to work with modern equipment, cutting-edge techniques, and a team that takes pride in delivering exceptional patient outcomes. 

       

This is a full-time position consisting of 37.5 hours per week, which has a highly desirable shift pattern which is currently being worked 4 shifts per week between Monday-Friday. Once the service increases, there will be the option to pick up overtime on Saturdays, which will be paid a generous rate of time and a half.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical field in line with best practice and infection control standards
  • Scrub for a wide range of orthopaedic procedures (e.g., Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement, Hip Revision, Knee Arthroscopy & Spinal Surgery)
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide skilled assistance throughout procedure
  • Ensure correct handling, counting, and preparation of surgical instruments and implants
  • Advocate for patient safety and dignity at all times
  • Contribute to effective teamwork, communication, and continuous service improvement
  • Support and mentor junior staff and students where appropriate

 

Requirements               

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with NMC registration or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with HCPC Registration
  • Right to Work in the UK    
  • Extensive experience as a Scrub Nurse/Theatre Practitioner
  • Experienced scrubbing for a range of Orthopaedic Procedures including Hips & Knees
  • Strong knowledge of theatre practices, instrumentation, and infection control
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Passion for high quality care

This hospital is located in Hayward Health and has free parking on site, making it easily commutable from Burgess Hill, Horsham, Crawley, East Grinstead, Brighton, Gatwick.
