Senior Speech & Language Therapist – Adult Learning Disabilities/Autism

Compass Associates is proud to be working with a well-established provider of specialist care and support services, to recruit for a Senior Speech & Language Therapist to join their clinical team.

 

This is a full time permanent role which is based at a specialist residential home in Barnsley,  which supports adults with complex needs, challenging behaviours, learning disabilities and autism. Your role will involve conducting assessments and delivering interventions for communication and dysphagia needs, in both 1:1 and group sessions. Working within a PBS framework, you will support individuals to develop skills which will allow them to be as independent as possible.

 

You'd work closely with and supervise a junior Speech & Language Therapist, as well as work within the wider clinical team which includes Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Assistant Psychologists, Behaviour Analysts, PBS Specialists, Clinical Psychologists and Therapy Assistants. The team meets on a weekly basis to review referrals, discuss shared care plans, receive clinical supervision and participate in CPD.

 

Although based at the Barnsley site, there will be a requirement to occasionally visit services in York and Scunthorpe, depending on clinical need.

Essential criteria

  • HCPC registration as a qualified Speech & Language Therapist
  • Experience working with adults who have learning disabilities and/or autism, associated mental health conditions and dysphagia
  • UK driving licence and own car to travel between services
  • Dysphagia trained (desirable)

 

Location

This role is commutable for candidates from Leeds, Wakefield, York, Scunthorpe, Chesterfield, Doncaster, Mexborough, Wetherby, Thirsk, Rotherham, Sheffield, Thorne and surrounding towns.
