Compass Associates are proud to be working with an award-winning private hospital, located in Crowborough, who are currently recruiting for a dedicated Senior Staff Nurse their highly respected inpatient orthopaedic team. This is a hands-on clinical leadership role within a supportive, low-turnover environment where quality, teamwork, and patient experience come first. This final vacancy completes an exciting service rollout and offers a rare opportunity to join a close-knit, specialist team in one of the UK’s leading independent orthopaedic hospitals.

      

The Role                 

As a Senior Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day leadership of a 46-bed inpatient orthopaedic ward, supporting the Ward Sister and senior leadership team to deliver outstanding care around the clock. You will be visible, influential, and operationally responsible during your shift.

 

You will:

  • Lead and coordinate shifts, acting as the senior clinical presence
  • Supervise and support the multidisciplinary team
  • Act as a clinical escalation point and mentor for junior staff
  • Ensure safe staffing, patient flow, and smooth ward operations
  • Drive quality improvement through audits, governance, and best practice
  • Contribute to service development, change management, and staff development

 

Shift patterns include days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays, with rotas planned and rotated in advance. If you are a confident, compassionate Nurse who thrives in a hospital environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional surgical care, we would love to hear from you! Requirements               

  • Qualified Nurse with NMC Registration
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Proven hospital-based surgical nursing experience
  • Demonstrable leadership and shift-management experience
  • Ability to prioritise, make decisions, and lead under pressure
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient-centred, proactive, and solution-focused approach
  • Mentorship / Practice Supervisor or Assessor qualification (or willingness to obtain) will be advantageous

 

Summary
