Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist – Mental Health Services

Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Location: Wellington, Somerset

You will be leading therapeutic group sessions and providing one-to-one support to service users, helping them improve their speech and communication skills while empowering them in their recovery journey. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside multidisciplinary teams and be supported in your professional development, with access to a variety of training courses and the chance to manage a designated caseload.

About the Role:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, your responsibilities will include:

• Specialist Caseload Management: You will be responsible for managing a caseload involving assessment, planning, and delivering interventions for individuals with complex mental health needs, including dysphagia.

• Group and One-to-One Therapy: Lead group sessions and provide one-to-one support to service users, helping them develop and improve speech and communication skills.

• Clinical Expertise: Demonstrate specialist skills in managing complex cases, addressing cultural and linguistic differences, and creating effective strategies for each individual’s care.

• Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals within the multidisciplinary team, including supporting families and carers.

• Audit and Research: Contribute to audits and research in the provision of speech and language treatments, ensuring best practices are followed.

What We’re Looking For:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• HCPC Registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.

• Experience in managing a caseload that involves the assessment and treatment of dysphagia and communication disorders.

• Experience working with families and carers to support service users.

• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development to demonstrate your commitment to learning and growth.

• Specialist knowledge in the area of mental health care services and speech and language therapy.
