Remit

Compass Associates are pleased to be supporting a well-established residential care home in the recruitment of a Deputy Manager for the vacancy. The home provides high-quality elderly residential care and is led by an experienced and committed Home Manager. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced senior or deputy to step into a hands-on, operational leadership role within a stable and supportive environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day running of the home, bringing structure, consistency, and leadership support to both the staff team and management function.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have prior experience working within an elderly residential care home, ideally in a Deputy Manager or senior supervisory position. You will be confident supporting teams on shift, managing day-to-day issues, and ensuring standards of care, medication management, and documentation are consistently maintained. This role suits someone who enjoys being visible on the floor, leading by example, and working closely with the Home Manager to ensure the smooth running of the service. This is a non-nursing role, and no clinical qualification is required; however, strong experience within residential care is essential.

  • Strong understanding of day-to-day care home operations
  • Experience with medication administration, care planning, and risk assessments
  • Ability to lead shifts, manage staff, and support rota and cover arrangements
  • Confident escalating concerns and working collaboratively with the Home Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Home Manager with the day-to-day management of the home
  • Lead shifts and support staff with operational and care-related matters
  • Assist with audits, care plans, risk assessments, and medication management
  • Support staff performance, supervision, and development
  • Attend meetings and liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide on-call support as part of the management rota

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate of £15.00 per hour
  • Company pension scheme
  • Annual leave
  • On-site parking
  • Supportive management structure
  • Long-term stability within an established service

The recruitment process will consist of one face-to-face interview with the Home Manager and senior leadership.

Summary

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced residential care professional to step into a Deputy Manager role within a stable and supportive care home.
