Business Development Manager | Elderly Care | Leading Not-for-Profit Provider

Salary:                                     £47,919.12 per annum
Benefits:                                  £8,445 car allowance (paid monthly) + Bonus Scheme

 

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to support a portfolio of elderly care homes across the Northwest and East Midlands. The organisation is an established, values-led not-for-profit provider with ambitious growth plans, modern technology, supportive leadership, and a commitment to delivering exceptional self-funded care provision.

 

The purpose of the role is to drive self-funder occupancy, increase average weekly fees, strengthen enquiry pipelines and generate new community-based referral routes. You will work closely with Home Managers, Regional Teams, the Lead BDM and Central Marketing/Enquiry Hub to ensure each home maximises its commercial performance while maintaining the organisation’s core ethos of kindness and quality.

 

Key Points

  • Portfolio of c.16 elderly care homes across the North West & East Midlands
  • Strong focus on growing self-funded occupancy (private market)
  • Responsible for driving commercial performance, including enquiry conversion and fee uplift
  • You will be confident using laptops/tablets (Microsoft Surface Pro) and enquiry systems
  • Work collaboratively with Home Managers, Regional Managers, Marketing & Enquiry Hub
  • Supported by a small national BDM team (5 BDMs + Lead BDM)
  • Quarterly commercial targets with 4 “focus homes” issued per quarter
  • Flexible role requiring occasional evenings/weekends for events and community engagement

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Visit focus homes to review environment, showroom standards, enquiry management and conversion
  • Analyse and grow local enquiry pipelines
  • Conduct external business development:
    • Build referral networks with hospitals, professionals, GPs, community groups
    • Strengthen relationships with key local stakeholders
  • Support community activity including carer groups, open days and local events
  • Undertake proactive marketing where enquiry levels are low
  • Maintain clear visibility of the local care market, competitors and price points
  • Work collaboratively with the central Enquiry Hub to convert warm leads
  • Carry out initial conversations with potential residents regarding needs, budgets and suitability
  • Support Home Managers and Regional Managers with commercial action plans
  • Drive occupancy in line with regional performance 

As the Business Development Manager you will be expected to:

It’s essential you can interpret data, understand the drivers behind performance, recognise early indicators of commercial challenge, and act quickly to resolve issues while working systematically with Home Managers to improve results.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially strong individual who can demonstrate clear, evidence-based success in delivering occupancy improvements, fee growth or business development outcomes within elderly care or a comparable sector.

 

Requirements

  • Proven success in consultative sales/business development
  • Background ideally within elderly care, homecare, healthcare or similar relationship-driven sector
  • Ability to demonstrate numerical achievements (occupancy growth, fee increases, conversion improvements)
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable using multiple systems
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Highly motivated, proactive, confident and target-driven
  • Flexibility to work evenings/weekends when required
  • Full driving licence essential

This role covers North West & East Midlands and is ideally based around:

  • Stoke-on-Trent
  • Staffordshire
  • Cheshire
  • North Shropshire
  • Derbyshire border

Homes sit around: Liverpool, Warrington, Nantwich, Derby, Leicester and surrounding areas.
