Compass Associates are proud to be working with a respected care provider to recruit a Commissioning Project Manager. This is a unique opportunity to lead the commissioning, decommissioning, and transition of two care homes, ensuring all operational, regulatory, and clinical requirements are delivered effectively and in line with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.

 

As Commissioning Project Manager, you will take overall responsibility for overseeing both projects from planning through to implementation, ensuring safe, seamless, and well-managed transitions for residents, families, and staff. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, operational teams, and external partners to coordinate timelines, manage risk, maintain compliance, and ensure continuity of high-quality care throughout the process.

 

This is a highly visible leadership role requiring strong operational oversight, excellent project management capability, and a sound understanding of the health and social care sector. You will be responsible for driving progress across multiple workstreams, ensuring effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and adherence to agreed objectives, budgets, and deadlines.


The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be an experienced project or operational manager with a strong background within the care sector, ideally with exposure to commissioning, mobilisation, service transitions, or change management projects. A strong understanding of CQC regulations and experience working within regulated care environments is essential.

 

You will be a confident and organised leader, capable of managing complex projects while supporting teams through periods of change. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills are key, alongside the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.

 

This role will suit someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and is passionate about delivering safe, compliant, and person-centred outcomes during periods of operational transition and service development.


Requirements – Essential

  • Proven experience managing or deputising in a large care home setting
  • Strong background in elderly and dementia care
  • Commissioning & Decommissioning experience
  • In-depth understanding of CQC regulations and compliance standards
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to drive quality, performance, and operational excellence
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Requirements – Desirable

  • Experience managing a large nursing home
  • Previous success in achieving or maintaining Good/Outstanding CQC ratings
  • Experience in a not-for-profit or values-driven care organisation
  • Leadership development or management qualifications
