Full-Time | Permanent
An Opportunity to Help Deliver Exceptional Care
Are you an experienced Deputy Manager who combines strong clinical leadership with a genuine passion for delivering outstanding, person-centred care?
Compass Associates are partnering with a premium elderly care provider to recruit a Deputy Manager for a luxury care home offering high-quality residential, nursing and dementia care. This is an opportunity to join an organisation that places equal importance on clinical standards, resident experience and creating a positive environment for both residents and colleagues.
Working closely with the Home Manager, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the service, providing clinical oversight, strengthening governance and developing a confident, high-performing team. You’ll be a visible leader who leads by example, ensuring care is never simply task-driven, but centred around each resident’s individual needs, preferences and quality of life.
For the right candidate, this role also offers a clear pathway towards becoming a Registered Home Manager.
The Role
As Deputy Manager, you’ll support the Home Manager with the overall operational, clinical and cultural performance of the home. You’ll take responsibility for maintaining high standards of care, ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting the development of the wider team.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Supporting the day-to-day management of the home and deputising for the Home Manager when required.
-
Providing visible, hands-on leadership across the service, setting high standards for care delivery and team performance.
-
Leading clinical handovers, daily meetings and the communication of resident risks and changing needs.
-
Overseeing care planning, risk assessments and the delivery of safe, individualised care.
-
Supporting clinical management across areas including medication, falls, wounds, nutrition, hydration and infection prevention.
-
Promoting best practice in dementia care, safeguarding and end-of-life care.
-
Leading clinical audits, quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
-
Supporting CQC readiness, inspections and the implementation of regulatory requirements.
-
Investigating incidents, monitoring trends and ensuring appropriate actions are completed.
-
Supporting complaints management and maintaining open, effective communication with residents and families.
-
Managing staffing levels, rotas and skill mix to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
-
Recruiting, supervising, developing and retaining a motivated team.
-
Promoting a positive workplace culture where colleagues feel valued, supported and empowered.
-
Building effective relationships with GPs, healthcare professionals, commissioners and other external stakeholders.
-
Supporting admissions, enquiries, occupancy and the home's reputation within the local community.
-
Ensuring health and safety standards, operational procedures and documentation remain robust.
You’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the home’s performance while working alongside an established leadership team that values quality, accountability and continuous development.
Who Are We Looking For?
We’re looking for a compassionate and capable care professional who can combine strong leadership with excellent organisational skills and a commitment to high-quality elderly care.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a senior clinical, supervisory or management position within a nursing, residential or dementia care setting. You’ll be confident supporting staff, managing competing priorities and ensuring that residents receive safe, effective and genuinely person-centred care.
An NMC-registered nurse would be particularly desirable, as the position has a strong clinical leadership element. However, experienced senior care leaders with the appropriate management qualifications or a willingness to work towards them will also be considered.
Just as importantly, you’ll be approachable, resilient and confident making decisions under pressure. You’ll understand how to motivate a team, address concerns constructively and create an environment where both residents and colleagues can thrive.
Essential Experience
-
Previous experience in a senior, supervisory, clinical lead or management role within elderly care.
-
Experience supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality care within a regulated service.
-
A sound understanding of care planning, risk assessments and safeguarding.
-
Knowledge of medication management, clinical governance and quality assurance.
-
Experience supervising, coaching and developing care or clinical teams.
-
Understanding of CQC requirements and regulatory compliance.
-
Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and infection prevention and control.
-
Strong communication skills when working with residents, families and healthcare professionals.
-
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and work on your own initiative.
-
A compassionate, person-centred approach to care and leadership.
NMC registration is preferred. Candidates without nursing registration will need relevant senior care experience and the appropriate Level 5 leadership qualification, or a willingness to work towards it.
The Candidate
This opportunity would suit someone currently working as a:
Deputy Manager | Clinical Deputy Manager | Senior Nurse | Clinical Lead | Assistant Manager | Senior Care Manager
You may already be an established Deputy Manager looking for a more supportive environment where you can continue developing your leadership skills. Alternatively, you could be a Senior Nurse or Clinical Lead ready to take the next step into a broader management position.
For an ambitious candidate, the opportunity to progress towards Registered Home Manager provides a clear longer-term career direction.
What’s On Offer?
-
£50,000 – £60,000 basic salary DOE
-
Opportunity to join a premium elderly care provider.
-
A luxury care environment with a strong focus on resident experience.
-
Paid DBS check.
-
5.6 weeks’ annual leave.

Why Consider It?
This is an opportunity to take on a meaningful leadership role within a care environment where quality, compassion and resident wellbeing are central to the organisation’s approach.
You’ll have the opportunity to influence clinical standards, support and develop colleagues, strengthen governance and contribute to the overall success of the service. Rather than simply overseeing day-to-day tasks, you’ll help create a culture where residents enjoy a fulfilling lifestyle and staff feel genuinely valued.
Whether you’re an experienced Deputy Manager or a senior clinical professional ready to move into management, this role offers the opportunity to broaden your experience and build towards the next stage of your career.
